Family Portrait & Event Photographer – Newcastle upon Tyne

Welcome — I’m Neil Ferry, a Newcastle-based photographer specialising in family portraits, children’s photography, and events, with a calm, thoughtful approach rooted in storytelling.

I believe the most meaningful photographs aren’t overly posed or forced. They’re the small, honest moments — a glance, a laugh, a connection — that quietly reveal who we are to the people we love. My aim is to create images that feel natural, warm, and timeless, whether we’re photographing a family at home, children playing outdoors, or a special event worth remembering.

I work closely with families to create relaxed portrait sessions that allow personalities to shine, especially with children. Sessions are unhurried and gentle, giving space for real moments to unfold rather than trying to manufacture them. The result is photography that feels authentic, personal, and full of life.

Alongside family work, I also photograph events, including birthday celebrations, gatherings, and live occasions where atmosphere and emotion matter just as much as the action. I take a discreet, documentary-style approach, capturing the story of the day as it naturally happens.

Creative & Commercial Portrait Work

In addition to my family and event photography, I also work with actors, musicians, bands, and comedians, creating striking portraits and promotional imagery for use across stage, screen, and print.

This includes:

• Actors’ headshots

• Band and artist promo shoots

• Album and single artwork

• Tour posters and promotional materials for comedians

• Live performance and behind-the-scenes imagery

With a background in music and creative portrait photography, I understand how important it is for performers to have visuals that reflect their personality, tone, and presence. Whether the brief calls for something bold and graphic or understated and character-driven, I work collaboratively to create images that feel honest, distinctive, and fit for purpose.

This work is typically project-based and separate from my family collections, and I’m happy to discuss individual creative briefs.
